Promise and Hope Group Reading Guide

In his landmark book Promise and Hope, Bill Huebsch outlines a pastoral theology for what Pope Francis calls the Art of Accompaniment—a call to “remove our sandals before the sacred ground of the other” as we welcome our brothers and sisters into closer relationship with Christ.

This engaging and practical study guide by Kathy Hendricks can help you make this mission a thriving reality at your parish. In six sessions designed for parish leaders, ministers, and volunteers, you’ll reflect together on the guidelines and points of orientation described in Promise and Hope, and you’ll discern what steps are needed for you to become more fully the welcoming community of disciples that you envision.

Most important, these guided discussions and reflections can help you listen for the divine call embedded in the life and experiences of your parish and bring Christ’s healing, hope, and self-giving love to all those you serve.
